How to recreate Jessica Alba's Golden Globes makeup

30th January 2013
How to get that red carpet perfection

If you were wondering how to work this year's biggest beauty trend - the statement lip - look no further than Jessica Alba's recent foray down the red carpet.

The A-lister turned up to the Golden Globes earlier this month wearing a shocking tangerine shade on her pout, which contrasted beautifully with her coral-coloured gown.

Makeup artist Lauren Andersen explained how she helped the actress come up with the showstopping look, noting that the Oscar de la Renta dress was the inspiration.

"I loved the contrast between her glowing skin and the matte orange lip. It's an almost tropical pop of colour that's not an exact match for the dress but close," said Lauren.

She started off by prepping Jessica's skin with a serum, followed by a tinted moisturiser that matched her skin tone. You can try Sleek MakeUP's Be Beautiful Blemish Balm, which is loaded with vitamins and works to create a glowing base.

Next, Lauren used a concealer under Jessica's eyes, down the bridge of her nose and across her forehead in a fan shape to give the illusion of dimension. A setting powder with light-reflecting particles was then buffed over Jessica's complexion for a golden, subtle shimmer. You can get the same effect with Sleek MakeUP's Luminous Pressed Powder, which is infused with mica pigments for that fresh, dewy look.

The makeup artist then contoured Jessica's cheekbones with a bronzing powder and swept blusher over the apples of her cheeks. Get the look with Face Form, which features a sculpting powder, highlighter and shimmering blush.

For the eyes, Lauren smudged a kohl pencil liner into the outer corners then washed a gold shade over Jessica's lids. She finished off with several coats of volume mascara and filled in Jessica's brows with a soft brown liner.

Finally, Lauren applied a richly pigmented orange lipstick to Jessica's pout for that pop of colour. Recreate the look with Sleek MakeUP's True Colour Lipstick in Tangerine Scream.
