J.Lo's makeup artist talks tricks of the trade

If you've been checking out the pictures of the gorgeous Jennifer Lopez performing on her latest tour, you'll no doubt have been admiring her flawless complexion. But just how does the singer maintain such an incredible glow?

According to celebrity makeup artist Scott Barnes, who has worked with J.Lo before, the most important thing to get right is the base, which means finding the right foundation shade for your skin tone.

"The best place to match your foundation with your skin colour isn’t on your wrist or even your face - it's on your neck, just below the chin, where the sun never shines," he advised.

"Apply with a brush, working in a circular motion to keep foundation from being too heavy and to help create a soft, even appearance."

The next step is highlighter, which can help when you're rocking the no makeup look. Scott recommends choosing a shimmering highlighting product if you're fair-skinned, while those with darker complexions will look picture perfect by using a highlighter with a warm coppery tone.

"Using a highlighter brush, apply a light dusting to the top of the cheekbones, at the place where the light hits your cheeks the most," he said.

Just like J.Lo, defining your eyes can make a big difference to your overall look. Use an eyelash curler and hold it down for up to ten seconds at the base of your lashes before releasing, then add a coat of volume mascara for that extra impact.

For your lips, you'll want to find a natural tone that complements your skin colour. Scott suggests applying a lip liner in faint lines along the edge of your pout for a tiny bit of definition - you can use Sleek MakeUP's Lip Pencil in Bare Essential for this very purpose.
