Try blue eye shadow for an on-trend look like Rihanna
It's a look that has been seen on Nicole Richie, Ciara, Christina Aguilera and Rihanna, but how confident are you about pulling off blue eye shadow?
The electric shade was spotted all over the catwalk at the spring/summer 2013 shows, and makeup artist Cassie Lomas, who created the aqua eye look for the Clements Ribeiro show, said the blue palette is a huge trend this spring.
She claims that it helps make the whites of the eye much brighter and keeps the rest of your makeup looking fresh, but there is a trick to working it.
"The lighter the coverage, the better," the makeup expert told the Daily Mail. "The best way to wear blue eye shadow is to apply it with your fingers, smudged and blended."
If you've got blue eyes, beware of matching them to your eye shadow because they can make your peepers look smaller. Choose royal blues and darker shades instead. Those with brown eyes can get away with icy shades of pastel blue, while hazel or green-eyed girls look gorgeous with either.
Ingeborg van Lotringen, beauty director at Cosmopolitan magazine, agrees that bold colours are a hot look for the upcoming season.
"For this summer, it's all about a kaleidoscope of brights. Paint lips an intense orange, hot pink, cherry, coral - anything goes as long as the pigments are intense," she noted.
If you're not keen on the idea of blue eyelids, try out a solid shade like emerald green, bright purple or even orange.
Get the look with Sleek MakeUP's i-Divine eye shadow palette in Ultra Matte V1 for some incredible pops of colour with intense pigment. If you don't want to go all over your eyelids with a striking shade, use an angled brush to layer it along your upper lashes, then finish off with a volume mascara like Sleek MakeUP's Eye Drama in Black Out.
